+JMJ...My visit to this library is for a bittersweet reason. Having lived in AZ going on 4 years now, I never made the time to visit the library during its hours of operation. However, recently the powers that be of Clarkdale have decided to close this piece of history because their budget can't afford to keep it open. My visit today is just to take keepsake photos. I can't image what they are going to do with the building - remodel and make an eatery of some sort?! Perhaps patrons of the new eatery will sit back filling their tummy with some delectable yummies and relishing memories of Clarkdale's former library which nourished and nurtured so many young and not so young minds and hearts.
GOOD NEWS! As of 19 October 2017, the Library was reopened! Glory to God! Heartfelt GRATITUDE to all who were responsible for the reopening of the Library! Following are a few excerpts from the article written by Halie Chavez for the 22 October 2017 issue of the Verde Independent. She reported: "Approximately 100 people attended the Clarkdale Memorial Library opening ceremony at the Clarkdale Clubhouse Oct 19." "The Clarkdale Council voted to approve an intergovernmental agreement between Yavapai County Free Library District and the town to provide library services. Under the agreement, the district will operate the library and the town will provide the facility rent free." The entire article is a worthwhile read and can probably be found online. I am so very happy for the people of Clarkdale!
