We had a excellent time. Much of this country is only accessible by train or horseback. Loved the open cars for viewing and pictures. Perfect time of year for weather. Prickly Pear lemonade was fantastic, should have got a gallon to go :)
I was in one of the first-class cars, which was worth the extra $30 dollars or so. It was very comfortable and there was complementary bottled water and food (a mini buffet).
The customer service team is incredible! Ellen to specific, was fast to respond to my questions by email, and very accommodating to make the evening as perfect as possible.
Five stars is not sufficient to describe the experience of the first class tickets and their service! We did the evening train in September, which is also a fantastic ride because you get to experience both the sunset and the stars in the evening. The atmosphere created in the train is extremely nostalgic of a romantic time when times were elegant and simple at the same time. Definitely a must for a romantic date/moment with your significant other. We will certainly return many more times!
Quaint but very interesting train tour that takes you on a 40 mile round-trip journey into Verde Canyon. There's some very informative commentary that happens periodically throughout the journey; this was supplemented by one of the staff in my section of the train, who had plenty of knowledge about the surrounding area.
Beautiful leisurely train ride through the gorgeous Verde canyon. We were in the Flagstaff, the first class car. Very comfortable seating with unlimited water and snacks. John was very knowledgeable about the area, really great narrator. Sherri was friendly and helpful. Fantastic way to spend the afternoon, enjoy the scenery and learn some local history.
The surrounding landscapes are beautiful and help to make the tour what it is. Definitely worth checking out.
Great side trip when passing through the area. The open air cars are fantastic as you ride up the canyon. We rode first class after reading the reviews online and enjoyed the experience.
